Old Sparta City Cemetery

The cemetery is situated on a hill overlooking Sparta,
one block south of Main Street. | |

Just a few yards beyond the entrance is an iron fence enclosure, containing three graves. | |
The center stone bears the name and inscription: JAMES T. QUARLES, DEC. 29, 1839 - FEB. 7, 1892. William Hawes Quarles and Ruth Hyder Quarles were his parents. | |
To the left of James T. Quarles' grave is the grave of
FREDDIE QUARLES infant son of James T. and Ella Quarles "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven" | |
To the right of James T. Quarles' grave is the grave of
DAN H. QUARLES
Daniel Hawes Quarles was the eldest son of James T. Quarles' brother,
